What's the site for?
Quite simply, whether you're a DJ, producer, presenter or just an enthusiast who wants other people to get the chance to listen to either music you've recorded yourself, a friend's or music you've found on the Internet, fppo allows you to promote them to like minded individuals.

There a are few ways: Firstly you can buy some server space of your own. These range from cheap hosting companies, where you're likely to pay a small fee every year. Be aware though, some of these companies offer 'unlimited' storage and bandwidth packages - don't buy them, they are a scam, as you will infact receive a very limited deal (especially from little pricks like streamline.net - please don't even visit their site - trust me - you'll regret it). As there are so many companies out there offering packages, my advice is to shop around, do some research: ask friends and family, does the site have a busy support forum?, etc. Secondly there are sites which allow you to host on their servers for a limited time free of charge, such as a load listed on the brownswood site.

What software do i need to listen to these mixes/shows?
That depends the type of file the mix or show is - below is a list of 'players' that you can download for free:

Windows Media: mp3, wma, pls
Real: ram, rm, mp3, pls
Winamp: mp3, ogg, pls
iTunes: mp3, pls.

How do I actually listen to the music
There a are few ways, but it really depends on the file type. Normally it'll be a mp3 - if it is and your a PC user, to download it right click the link and click 'Save Target As...', Mac users hold the Control key, then click 'Download Linked File As'; to stream it right click and click 'Copy Shortcut', Mac users hold the Control key, then click 'Download Link to Clipboard' - you can then paste this into your media player (Windows Media player: File > Open URL... iTunes: Advanced > Open Stream)

What's that RSS thing on the front page?
Basically it gathers the latest information from other sites, sites which present radio shows or mixes. If you would like a detailed explanation of RSS check out the BBC explanation and the wiki one. If you have an RSS feed and would like to add it to the list, either email rss@fppo.net with the address and name of the feed or click '*add new rss*' at the bottom of the RSS feeder on the front page

Login and Registration Issues
Why can't I log in?
Have you registered? Seriously, you must register in order to log in. You can register here. If you have registered and are not banned and you still cannot log in then check and double-check your username and password. Usually this is the problem - if not, contact the board administrator @ admin@fppo.net

Why do I need to register at all?
To view and download, no you don't - but if you'd like to get involved, either by adding a mix or show or commenting, then yes you do. You can register here.

Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you log in, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in, check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university cluster, etc.

I've lost my password!
Don't panic! While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this go to the login page and click here . Follow the instructions and you should be back online in no time.

I registered but cannot log in!
First check that you are entering the correct username and password. Maybe your account needs activating. We require all new registrations to be activated. When you registered it would have told you whether activation was required. If you were sent an email then follow the instructions; if you did not receive the email then check that your email address is valid, also check your Junk Mail as sometimes it ends up there. One reason activation is used is to reduce the possibility of rogue users abusing the board anonymously. If you are sure the email address you used is valid then try contacting the board administrator @ admin@fppo.net.

I registered in the past but cannot log in anymore!
The most likely reasons for this are: you entered an incorrect username or password (check the email you were sent when you first registered). If you problems persist, try contacting the board administrator @ admin@fppo.net.

How do I change my settings?
All your settings (if you are registered) can be changed (once logged in) from here or from the front page.

The times are not correct!
The times are almost certainly correct; however, what you may be seeing are times displayed in a timezone different from the one you are in. If this is the case, you should change your profile setting for the timezone to match your particular area, e.g. London, Paris, New York, Sydney, etc. Please note that changing the timezone, like most settings, can only be done by registered users. So if you are not registered, this is a good time to do so, if you pardon the pun!
